Businesses and community organisations

Flexible support tailored to your organisation

How does it work if we own our premises?
We can provide specialist support with one of our Carbon Coordinators. Learn about how you can identify potential areas for reduction and improvement.

What if we don't own our premises?
The majority of businesses and community organisations rent or lease their premises. You can still make an impact with one-to-one guidance on where changes can be made and access to our self-learning platform.

Can my community organisation apply?
Community organisations covered by the East Devon Carbon Action Programme include charities, community interest companies (CICs), social enterprises (that do not engage in economic activity), voluntary organisations, religious institutions, local authorities, education providers and other public sector bodies with legal status.

Is there a limit on business size?
We're encouraging businesses of all shapes and sizes to measure and reduce their carbon impact. From sole traders to businesses with hundreds of employees, everyone needs to start working on a future-facing business model that grows alongside their environmental and social considerations - and we can help guide you on what that looks like.

We know business owners are time-poor and volunteers all too often lack resources, which is why we're here to make reducing your impact easy. We'll help you every step of the way, so you can concentrate on managing the day-to-day.

Access the Carbon Action Fund

By going through EDCAP or our other green business support programme, Prosper, you will be able to apply for the Carbon Action Fund.

Businesses and community organisations can now apply to the Carbon Action Fund for decarbonisation equipment recommended as part of a carbon action plan.

Read the full details here and contact us about getting your carbon action plan in place, so you can submit a strong application.

What our EDCAP clients say

"We found the BIP support, through Adela Mei, very helpful to orientate ourselves and to fully understand options and approaches to a Carbon Action Fund bid. The support helped us to put together a strong proposal, and stopped us going up some blind alleys!

Carbon Sense also pulled out all the stops to get our Carbon Reduction Review and Plan together prior to the deadline and were proactive in contacting us for clarification of some of the detail. The outputs will be useful irrespective of the outcome of our grant application.

As a small family fun business, the support we've received from Business Information Point, Adela, and Carbon Sense has been outstanding.

The team at Carbon Sense has done a fantastic job in helping us put together comprehensive carbon reduction plans, and their guidance to help us achieve our targets going forward has been invaluable. We're incredibly grateful to everyone involved in this project for their expertise.

I had the pleasure of working with Adela on our Lyme Bay Ladies Sustainability Policy. When I was introduced to the topic of sustainable business, I assumed it was only relevant to certain types of business and didn’t realise how much we were doing came under the umbrella of sustainability. This process has given me confidence and clarity. It has empowered me to find ways to share the ideals with our members. I am very passionate about the environment and will proudly display my policy on our new website. Thank you, Adela, for shining the light!

Sidmouth Rugby Club is thrilled to announce the successful acquisition of £30,000 in Carbon Action Funding, which will go toward installing PV and battery storage at our clubhouse.

This exciting milestone wouldn't have been possible without the incredible support and expertise of Adela Mei from Business Info Point (BIP) and Andrew Moss Robinson from Carbon Sense.

Their dedication, knowledge, and guidance were instrumental in helping us secure this vital funding. We're immensely grateful for their amazing contributions and look forward to moving towards a more sustainable future for our club."
