This free, 3 hour workshop has been designed by Trevor Vanstone, Director of Perspective HR, specifically for start-up business owners looking to hire their first employee. In this interactive and informative training session you’ll learn all the basic HR processes that you need to follow to comply with the law and ensure that you find the right employee for your business needs.
Trevor has considerable experience having advised over 70 companies and organisations in all things HR and employment and so brings a wealth of knowledge to show you that the process of hiring your first member of staff does not have to be a difficult experience.
The training will be full of practical, step-by-step instructions from identifying your needs, understanding the law, putting together job descriptions and interviewing as well as motivating and training staff, plus much more.
The workshop will be split into 4 sections covering the following topics:

About the Trainer – Trevor Vanstone
Trevor Vanstone is responsible for advising 70 companies and organisations in all things HR and employment. After being brought up on a ‘proper hands-on business’ of the family market garden, he spent 22 years in publishing as a journalist, editor, and operational and senior manager before becoming an HR consultant and trainer in 2006.
Trevor is the Director of Westcountry-based Perspective HR Ltd and is an accredited Action Centred Leadership (ACL) trainer. Trevor works across a range of industries and the third sector and has trained hundreds of owners, managers and team leaders over the last decade.

To be eligible to attend this free workshop you need to be based in one of the following local council areas: East Devon, Mid Devon, West Devon, South Hams, Teignbridge or Exeter. Please ensure you bring a copy of your Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) Number that you will have received when you registered with HMRC. We need this to show our funders that you are operating a real business so that we can provide the support at no cost to you. Alternatively, please bring your Company Registration Number.
