SUMMARY:Farm Grants Update & Navigating the Agricultural Transition
DESCRIPTION:Helping farmers\, their families and their businesses to navigate the Agricultural Transition.\n\n\nLife after BPS – SFI\, ELMS\, Stewardship & Grants\, an open joint workshop with Clarke Wilmott Solicitors. \nWith the change in farming support moving away from the Basic Payment Scheme there will be grants available towards environmental improvement\, animal health and welfare\, and reducing carbon emissions. \nPhilip Whitcomb will be discussing how the new schemes will impact succession planning and taxes. \nPhilip is a private client partner who acts for a large number of farmers\, landowners and high-net-worth individuals. He has particular expertise in advising on succession planning and the structuring of farm businesses. His approach is to give practical and workable solutions to clients taking into account their circumstances and particular needs and wishes. He deals will all aspects of Wills\, capital tax planning (including advice around issues relating to Agricultural Property Relief and Business Property Relief)\, trusts\, heritage assets\, probates and farming partnerships; advice which requires a high level of technical know-how combined with commercial acumen. Philip is a Fellow of the Agricultural Law Association\, a member of the Country Land and Business Association and ranked in Legal 500\, Chambers High Net Worth Guide and Spear’s 500. He regularly lectures nationally to professionals on capital taxation\, Wills\, trusts and farming business structures. As well as being on the editorial advisory board for Farm Tax Briefing and a contributor to Stanley’s Taxation of Farmers and Landowners he has written a book entitled A Practical Guide to the Law of Farming Partnerships. \nThe Future Farming Resilience Fund has been funded by Defra to allow us to support farmers and land managers with this transition. The support is free for any farmer or land manager currently in receipt of BPS payments. \nYou will also get the opportunity to sign up to get additional support through the Future Farm Resilience program including one-to-one on farm visits and advice. \nTimings: \n\n6:30 pm – Arrival\, tea and coffee\n6.45 pm – Introduction from Esther Woolford\, Partner and Agri Sector Head\, Clarke Willmott\n6:50 pm – Presentation from Rupert Cox from SBA CIC on the agricultural transition and the options available\n7:40 pm – Short break for refreshments\n8 pm – Presentation from Philip Whitcomb on how these schemes may affect succession planning & tax\n8:50 pm – Closing remarks and any remaining Q&As.\n\n  \nEligibility: \nThis workshop is available to any farmer or land manager in Devon\, Somerset\, Dorse or Cornwall currently in receipt of BPS payments. \nTo be eligible to participate in the Future Farming Resilience project and receive subsequent 1:1 support or attend further workshops\, you will be required to complete a Monitoring Information form. Forms will be provided by your advisor\, at a workshop\, or emailed to you after an online workshop. Please ensure forms are completed swiftly.
