SUMMARY:Herbal Ley and Hedgerow Management
DESCRIPTION:SAM3 Herbal leys and HRW1\, 2\,3 Hedgerows: a practical workshop to examine how these two SFI options could work on your land\n\n\nWith thanks to Messrs Ayre at Ratcliffe Farm for hosting this event. \nHerbal leys are an increasingly popular component within farming rotations on South West farms. Their inclusion and attractive payment rate within Defra’s Sustainable Farming Incentive means they are an option to consider carefully within any farm business. \nFarms in the South West also have the highest proportions of hedgerows in England and\, again\, hedgerow management options under SFI could be a valuable addition to your post-BPS farm income. \nThis workshop will support any farmers considering herbals leys and hedgerow management on their farm. \nIt will include: \n\nThe details of herbal leys and hedgerow options under SFI – what you could earn\, what you would be required to do under SAM3 and HRW1\, 2 and 3\nFollowing a pasty lunch\, a farm walk to examine and discuss the practical management of herbal leys and hedgerows\n\nThis farm event has an outside component so please come appropriately dressed. ​ \n  \nEligibility: \nThis workshop is available to any farmer or land manager in Devon\, Somerset\, Dorset\, Cornwall\, or the Isles of Scilly currently in receipt of BPS payments. \nTo be eligible to participate in the Future Farming Resilience project and receive subsequent 1:1 support or attend further workshops\, you will be required to complete a Monitoring Information form. Forms will be provided by your advisor\, at a workshop\, or emailed to you after an online workshop. Please ensure forms are completed swiftly.
