SUMMARY:SFI on-farm: Hedgerows & Grant Support
DESCRIPTION:The recent Defra announcement regarding an expanded SFI offer\, available from late July 2024\, have left many farmers wondering whether SFI is the right approach for them. \nHedgerows are an increasingly popular component within farming rotations on South West farms. Their inclusion and attractive payment rate within Defra’s Sustainable Farming Incentive means they are an option to consider carefully within any farm business. \nFarms in the South West also have the highest proportions of hedgerows in England and\, again\, hedgerow management options under SFI could be a valuable addition to your post-BPS farm income. \nThis workshop will support any farmers considering hedgerow management on their farm. \nIt will include: \n\nThe details of hedgerow options under SFI – what could you earn\, and what would you be required to do under HRW1\, 2 and 3\nA farm walk to examine and discuss the practical management of hedgerows\nDiscussion around other SFI options on a mixed farm\nFree refreshments and a pasty lunch\n\nThis farm event has an outside component so please come appropriately dressed. ​ \n  \nEligibility: \nThis workshop is part of the Future Farming Resilience programme & is available to any farmer or land manager in Devon\, Somerset\, Dorset\, or Cornwall currently in receipt of BPS payments. \nTo be eligible to participate in the Future Farming Resilience project and receive subsequent 1:1 support or attend further workshops\, you will be required to complete a Monitoring Information form. Forms will be provided by your advisor\, at a workshop\, or emailed to you after an online workshop. Please ensure forms are completed swiftly.
