DESCRIPTION:This is part of a series of specialist soil workshops that will introduce farmers and landowners to the basics of soil microbiology.\n\n\nThis is part of a series of specialist soil workshops that will introduce farmers and landowners to the basics of soil microbiology\, and the practical steps that you can take to improve soil health. The workshop will include an on-farm walk\, live soil sample analysis\, and discussions on the science behind soil health. \n  \nSoil Workshop: Led by Symbiosis Soil Lab\, an innovative mobile laboratory\, this workshop will introduce you to soil microbiology and the benefits of soil biodiversity. Symbiosis Soil Lab operates the only known Soil Microbiology Food Web Mobile Lab and they specialise in regenerating life into soils. \n  \nTalk: Tim Williams\, founder of Earth Farmers\, will expand on the links between soil biology and the profitability of your enterprise\, focussing on unleashing farm productivity. Responding to the morning’s discoveries\, this afternoon session will explore how microbial activity and fungal interaction in the soil affect above-ground production\, particularly livestock. \n  \nFarm Walk: George Streatfield will show us around Coppet Hill‘s farm and Jake Cobin will lead us on collectiong soil samples. \n  \nAgri-advisor Session: Advisor David Crabb will provide an overview of farm funding opportunities\, particularly how to get started with SFI. \n  \nTimings \n10:00-10:30 – Arrival and Registration \n10:30-10:45 – Introduction to Coppet Hill and to the Marshwood Vale Farming Cluster \n10:45-11:15 – Introduction to Soil Microbiology and the Symbiosis Soil Lab \n11:15-13:15 – Farm Walk and Live Soil Analysis \n13:15-14:15 – Lunch \n14:15-15:00 – Talk on the link between soil and profitability \n15:00 – 15:30 – Agri-advisor Session \n15:30-15:45 – Q&A and Event End \n  \nEligibility \nThis workshop is available to any farmer or land manager in Devon\, Somerset\, Dorset\, Cornwall\, or the Isles of Scilly currently in receipt of BPS payments. \n  \nTo be eligible to participate in the Future Farming Resilience project and receive subsequent 1:1 support or attend further workshops\, you will be required to complete a Monitoring Information form. SUMMARY:Farm Business Funding: Update on Latest Grants\, Schemes and SFI
DESCRIPTION:Stay up to date with developments in agriculture to navigate the Agricultural Transition.\n\n\nAs farmers in the Southwest move away from Basic Payments\, many have benefited from the free support available under the Defra-funded Future Farming Resilience scheme. \nWith the pace of information change\, it is increasingly difficult to keep up with new developments and stay on top of important announcements and updates in agriculture. \nThis workshop is designed for and targeted at those who have already benefitted from personalised support under FFR\, but wish to get an update on recent developments. \n  \nDuring this FREE workshop we will discuss: \n\nHow ELMs\, including SFI and Landscape Recovery\, can fit within your farm system. In this section\, we will include both practical and financial feedback and guidance from those already taking part\nSources of farm funding outside ELMs: in this section\, we will provide a brief overview of other sources of funds and support\, including CS\, FiPL\, REPF\, Animal health and welfare schemes and woodland creation and improvement schemes\nPreparing for the longer term success of your farm business is essential. In this section\, we’ll give you pointers for first steps to take to review your economic situation\, plan for retirement and prepare for a successful farm succession\nWhat to do now: we review what further support is available under FFR and how you can access it.\n\n  \nThis workshop is provided under the Future Farming Resilience Fund\, which was funded by Defra to allow us to support farmers and land managers with Agricultural Transition.
