As part of the Agricultural Transition\, Defra introduced the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) in 2022 to support farmers looking after the natural environment in the course of their farming. \nIn this free workshop\, we will look at the options available under the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI)\, including a deep dive into the six new standards being introduced in 2023\, and how these can be applied on your farm. \nThe six additional standards to be introduced in 2024 include: \n\nhedgerows standard\nintegrated pest management standard\nnutrient management standard\narable and horticultural land standard\nimproved grassland standard\nlow input grassland standard\n\nUnder the new schemes\, on-farm payments can reach an average of £200/ha depending on the options chosen. DESCRIPTION:The Sustainable Farming Incentive is Defra’s flagship offering to the farming community.\n\n\nThe Sustainable Farming Incentive is available to the farming community\, rewarding farmers for environmental benefits provided through their land management practices. \nAs the area-based Basic Payment Scheme is phased out\, SFI represents an important consideration for farmers seeking to maximise farm income. For farmers who choose to enter the SFI\, Defra have worked hard to ensure the scheme is easy to apply for\, with the majority of farmers expected to complete their own applications. \nIn this workshop\, we will help farmers and landowners to understand the SFI scheme and the application process. We will cover: \n  \n\nThe core requirements of the SFI schemes\nFinding out more – the research you need to do in order to make informed decisions that are right for your farm\, including where to get the information you need\nHow to prepare for your applicaiton – gathering the data you need\nThe application process itself – what to do at each stage of the SFI application process\nTroubleshooting – what to do and where to turn when things go wrong.\n\n  \nPlease note\, this workshop will not go into detail on the various options available under SFI. DESCRIPTION:Stay up to date with developments in agriculture to navigate the Agricultural Transition.\n\n\nAs farmers in the South West move away from Basic Payments\, many have taken advantage of the free support available under the Defra-funded Future Farming Resilience scheme. With the pace of information change\, however\, it is both increasingly difficult and more important to stay abreast of developments in agriculture. This workshop is designed for and targeted at those who have already benefitted from personalised support under FFR\, but wish to get an update on recent developments. \n  \nDuring this FREE workshop\, we will discuss: \n\nHow ELMs\, including SFI and Landscape Recovery\, can fit within your farm system. In this section\, we will include both practical and financial feedback and guidance from those already taking part\nSources of farm funding outside ELMs: in this section\, we will provide a brief overview of other sources of funds and support\, including CS\, FiPL\, REPF\, Animal health and welfare schemes and woodland creation and improvement schemes\nPreparing for the longer-term success of your farm business is essential. DESCRIPTION:This free workshop provides up-to-date information to farmers aiming to build farm business resilience and profitability. We review how new and existing funding schemes\, such as the Sustainable Farming Incentive and Countryside Stewardship\, have changed\, and how those schemes could apply to your farm and build your business. We also outline other schemes and grants that may apply to your farm. \nJoin us to discuss: \n\nHow funding is changing and what farmers can do to mitigate these changes​\nWhat DEFRA’s Environmental Land Management Schemes\, including SFI\, offer\nWhat other grant schemes are available\nSuccession: how to start planning for the next generation\nWhere to go next: getting ongoing support and information ​\n\nThe Future Farming Resilience Fund is funded by Defra to support farmers and land managers through the biggest changes in farm support for generations\, as BPS ends and new environmental schemes are launched. The support is free and available until December 2024 to any farmer or land manager in Devon\, Dorset\, Somerset or Cornwall with more than 5ha of land and an SBI. \n  \nEligibility: \nThis workshop is part of the Future Farming Resilience programme & is available to any farmer or land manager in Devon\, Somerset\, Dorset\, or Cornwall currently in receipt of BPS payments. \nTo be eligible to participate in the Future Farming Resilience project and receive subsequent 1:1 support or attend further workshops\, you will be required to complete a Monitoring Information form. Forms will be provided by your advisor\, at a workshop\, or emailed to you after an online workshop. Please ensure forms are completed swiftly.
