SUMMARY:Mental Health Awareness for Farming Communities
DESCRIPTION:Helping farmers\, their families and their businesses to navigate the Agricultural Transition.\n\n\nThe Rural Support and Wellbeing project aims to raise awareness of the rural support services available to the farming community\, through specialist workshops and representation at rural events\, such as livestock markets and agricultural shows. \nThis project is being delivered in Cornwall\, Devon\, Dorset\, and Somerset as part of the Future Farming Resilience programme\, which in turn has been funded by DEFRA to allow us to support farmers and land managers with this transition. The support is free and available from October 2022 to any farmer or land manager currently in receipt of BPS payments. \nThis project is being delivered by the Heart of the South West Trading Standards team\, working closely with the Farming Community Network (FCN)\, Rural Crime Police\, the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) and other organisations. \nNew Leaf Life Design are running a Mental Health Awareness workshop\, which will provide an overview of mental health. This workshop covers: \n\nWhat mental health is and how to challenge stigma\nA basic knowledge of some common mental health issues\nAn introduction to looking after your own mental health and maintaining wellbeing\nConfidence to support someone in distress or who may be experiencing a mental health issues\n\nBecky Wright\, who established and continues to run New Leaf Life Design\, is an award-winning mental health trainer\, a retired psychotherapist\, and a young farmer. \nTimings & Refreshments: \nWe will be serving a free buffet and refreshments towards the end of the workshop\, with the timings as follows: \n\n12pm – arrival\, lunch\n12:30pm – workshop starts\n4pm – workshop finishes\n\nEligibility: \nThis workshop is available to any farmer or land manager in Devon\, Somerset\, Dorset\, Cornwall\, or the Isles of Scilly currently in receipt of BPS payments. \nIf you are not in receipt of BPS payments or you have any questions\, please call us on 01837 659 059 or email team@businessinfopoint.co.uk. DESCRIPTION:During this workshop\, we will help start you on the process of developing a transition plan from one generation to the next.\n\n\nSuccession planning as a farmer can be challenging for all involved in the family business. SUMMARY:Exploring SFI Options for Your Farm in 2023
DESCRIPTION:With the reduction of income from the Basic Payment Scheme over the next few years\, all farmers are considering how to develop their businesses.\n\n\nAs part of the Agricultural Transition\, Defra introduced the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) in 2022 with the aim to support farmers looking after the natural environment in the course of their farming. \nIn this free workshop\, we will look at the options available under the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI)\, including a deep dive into the six new standards being introduced in 2023\, and how these can be applied on your farm. \nThe six additional standards to be introduced in 2023 include: \n\nhedgerows standard\nintegrated pest management standard\nnutrient management standard\narable and horticultural land standard\nimproved grassland standard\nlow input grassland standard\n\nUnder the new schemes\, on farm payments can reach an average of £200/ha depending on options chosen. During the session we will explore the payments offered\, go through the application process\, and what is required to comply .
