Retiring from farming: learn the tax implications for your farm business

20 September, 2023 - 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm

Free
Simpkins Edwards will focus on the specific retirement needs of the farming industry.

Simpkins Edwards is an accountancy firm with over 50 years’ experience providing tax, accountancy and business services to businesses and individuals across the South West.

With their support and expert guidance, Simpkins Edwards gives you back the time, resources and confidence to concentrate on the things that matter most.

In this workshop, Simpkins Edwards will focus on the specific retirement needs of the farming industry. They will particularly look at the Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax implications of different retirement scenarios, including:

  • Farmer retains business until death
  • Farmer keeps the farm and lets it out on a farm business tenancy for their final years
  • Farmer sells the farm
  • Farmer brings in a family member as a partner; with or without transferring property interest to them

This workshop will be essential for farmers looking to understand their retirement options and understand the critical next steps in organising a successful succession for their farm business.
