Capital Grants
DEFRA have announced that a new round of the main Environmental Land Management (ELM) Capital Grants offer will open in July 2026.
Capital Grants are payments that help cover the cost of one-off investments on farms, rather than ongoing payments. They fund tree planting, hedgerow restoration and improving water quality.
Funding will increase from £150 million last year to £225 million in 2026.
DEFRA will provide updates on uptake when they reach 25%, 50% and 75% of the budget allocation, and further guidance will be available on the UK Government website closer to the opening. It's also expected they will release more detail via a blog post in the coming weeks. You can subscribe to the DEFRA blog here to get notifications on new posts.
