The Rural Support and Wellbeing project, run by the Heart of the South West Trading Standards service, aims to raise awareness of the rural support services available to the farming community, through specialist workshops and representation at rural events, such as livestock markets and agricultural shows.
This project is being delivered in Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, and Somerset as part of the Future Farming Resilience programme, funded by DEFRA to support farmers and land managers. The support is free and available from October 2022 to any farmer or land manager currently in receipt of BPS payments.
The Wellbeing Webinar series is running on the first Thursday of every month, from October 2023 to April 2024. The themes of November’s webinar are fire safety & mental health, including guest speakers from the following organisations:
Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service provide response to a range of emergencies and people in crisis 24/7, 365 days a year. The Service also provide fire safety support and advice to business premises.
Elen Thomas is our speaker from the Service. She is Cornwall’s first Collaboration Safeguarding Officer, in a joint venture between Devon & Cornwall Police, and Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service. Elen will be sharing about her role in more detail on the webinar, and how the Service can support your farm business.

This workshop is available to any farmer or land manager in Devon currently in receipt of BPS payments.
To be eligible to participate in the Future Farming Resilience project and receive subsequent one-to-one support or attend further workshops, you will be required to complete a Monitoring Information form. Forms will be provided by your advisor, at a workshop, or emailed to you after an online workshop. Please ensure forms are completed swiftly. Please be aware that BIP may limit further access to specialist workshops or one-to-one advice if the form is not completed.
