The Rural Support and Wellbeing project, run by the Heart of the South West Trading Standards service, aims to raise awareness of the rural support services available to the farming community, through specialist workshops and representation at rural events, such as livestock markets and agricultural shows.
This project is being delivered in Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, and Somerset as part of the Future Farming Resilience programme, funded by DEFRA to support farmers and land managers. The support is free and available from October 2022 to any farmer or land manager currently in receipt of BPS payments.
The Wellbeing Webinar series usually runs on the first Thursday of every month, from October 2023 to December 2024.
For our October webinar, we will be joined by Nee Bedford- Area Manager of The Moorings Devon based services for Mental Health Matters. Jade Chidgey, Macmillan Programme Officer from The Farming Community Network. Jade will discuss her role as a support officer within the rural and farming community. Sarah Lloyd, senior veterinary officer from the Animal Plant Health Agency (APHA) will be discussing notifiable diseases, such as Bluetongue and Avian Influenza. Along with additional speaker Nicola Pearce, Heart of the Southwest Trading Standards Officer.

This will be an online session, delivered via Zoom. Joining details will be sent to you 48 hours before the workshop.
This workshop is available to any farmer or land manager in Devon currently in receipt of BPS payments.
To be eligible to participate in the Future Farming Resilience project and receive subsequent 1:1 support or attend further workshops, you will be required to complete a Monitoring Information form. Forms will be provided by your advisor, at a workshop, or emailed to you after an online workshop. Please ensure forms are completed swiftly. Please be aware that BIP may limit further access to specialist workshops or 1:1 advice, if the form is not completed.
