Winter livestock health: Practical priorities for South West farmers - online workshop
Join BIP and Castle Vets for a practical workshop focused on the livestock health issues that matter most over the winter months

** Open to farming businesses in East Devon, Exeter, Mid Devon and Teignbridge.

Join BIP and Castle Vets for a practical workshop focused on the livestock health issues that matter most over the winter months — and the steps farmers can take now to protect animal health, performance and profitability.

With a focus on practical advice and early intervention for animal care, the session will cover:

  • Bluetongue: The key signs to be looking for now and what you can do to reduce the impact next year
  • Winter grazing and housing: Practical measures to protect animal health and maintain performance through winter, whether cattle and sheep are at grass or housed.
  • Parasites: Worms, fluke and getting treatment right — including the importance of targeting treatments effectively and avoiding unnecessary use.
  • Bovine TB: Practical steps farmers can take to reduce farm-level risk and improve on-farm biosecurity.
  • Five things farmers should never ignore: A vet’s early-warning checklist of the signs and situations that should prompt action before a small problem becomes a bigger one.

This is an informal, practical session for South West farmers, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and discuss the animal issues you’re seeing on farm.

As usual, BIP will also provide a round-up of the latest grants and farm funding news.

Please note that all attendees must complete a registration form as part of the funders’ participation requirements.
